The Jordan Trolley Station, operational from 1910 to 1930, was a significant part of the local transportation infrastructure. The trolley route extended through the station, traversed Clinton Street, and continued behind it. Interestingly, the station also functioned as a gas station for a brief period.

The Jordan Trolley system, more formally named the Rochester Syracuse & Eastern Rapid Railroad, was established in 1909 and inaugurated in 1910, served as a vital mode of transportation for not only people, but good as well until around 1930, when automobiles began to dominate. The trolley system traversed the four corners of Jordan, commencing its journey from the trolley station (visible in the photograph on the left) and proceeding to Clinton Street, from where it would embark on its private right of way.
The station was later moved from its current location closer to the road to serve as a gas station, and auto repair shop. Adding an element of intrigue, the Sanborn Map, located to the right of the Trolley image, reveals the existence of an old wooden bridge that once stood behind the current location of J & T Auto. The remains of the Bridge abutments can still be seen behind the station.

Adding a touch of intrigue, beneath the photograph of the Trolley, one can spot a ticket from the era of the Railway’s operation. This ticket reveals that the passenger was journeying between Memphis and Syracuse, and astonishingly, the fare was a mere 45 cents! The ticket also mentions an intriguing detail - a collateral charge of 10 cents, which would be refunded at the destination upon presentation of the ticket. This ticket is especially rare because items like these were meant to be thrown away, not kept.
